As part of the Substance Use & Concurrent Disorders team, you will provide person-centered Social Work services to family members of individuals experiencing substance use and concurrent mental health disorders.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual support, brief counselling, and psychoeducation to family members and loved ones affected by substance use
• Help participants understand substance use disorders, treatment and recovery pathways, harm reduction, relapse, and recovery-oriented care.
• Support family members in identifying and setting healthy boundaries, communication strategies, coping skills, conflict resolution, relationship strengthening and self-care practices.
• Facilitate family support groups, educational sessions and workshops
• Utilize evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions including trauma-informed approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Family Systems Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, etc.
• Help family members understand & navigate psychosocial needs and social determinants of health for their loved ones, including housing, income, transportation, medication coverage, and access to community resources.
• Provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, and appropriate referrals when required.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to quality improvement, program development, and evaluation activities.
• Participate in the teaching, mentoring, and supervision of Social Work students.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work with registration in good standing with the OCSWSSW.
• Clinical social work experience in mental health and substance‑use treatment settings.
• Experience working with severe and complex substance use and concurrent mental health disorders.
• Experience supporting families and caregivers impacted by substance use disorders.
• Experience providing family and group interventions.
• Demonstrated group facilitation, presentation, and training skills.
• Knowledge and experience with harm‑reduction interventions including safer injection practices and overdose prevention/response.
• Experience working with individuals at high risk for drug use, blood‑borne infections, and STIs.
• Experience collaborating with public health and community agencies.
• Effective teamwork skills and the ability to work within interdisciplinary hospital and community settings.
• Proficiency using electronic health record systems for documentation and navigation.
• Ability to travel as required.

Language Requirements

English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading & writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered a strong asset

Salary Range

Salary: 44.67 to 57.90 per hour
